Why You Should Be Streaking

Writer's picture: Albert ElhianiAlbert Elhiani

No, I am not referring to that vivid scene from The Hang Over where Mr. Chow (Dr. Ken Jeong) jumps out of a trunk naked or to that scene in Old School where Will Ferell is running through the streets of his alma mater, rather I am referring to the practice of running every day. Streaking is much more than just racking up the miles. It is about working towards goals, keeping healthy, and staying sane. Streaking is running daily and consistently.

Why and how can streaking can change your life

It is notoriously challenging to create a time for work and time off the clock. With the push now to work more and more from home, streaking can creatively become your “commute” to work. Those who have employed this method find that they are more “awake and refreshed” for the day and task at hand. This could be a way to get excited about starting your workday rather than dreading it.

Can you run a mile a day? Of course you can, or maybe you need to build up to it. But that is all you need to make it count! Whether you are doing lung busting speedwork at track, light running on the treadmill, or a jog around your dinning room in your pajamas, these all help toward the ultimate goal of running every day. Make your health a priority.

Streak with company! Streaking in your relationship ensures that couples spend more time together. Shared goals helps to foster motivation for inspiration and perspiration. Streaking will guarantee that couples will spend tome together everyday regardless of their schedules. Running can help act as a positive outlet for emotions.

These streaks aren’t just about running. They are about the challenge and pushing through the self imposed limitations you have created. Commitment and showing up is half of the battle. Running new and interesting routes can help keep you engaged. Apps like “Strava” have features like heat maps to show the most popular places and routes to run in your area. Another option to keep you engaged or to rejuvenate your routes is to hire a running tour guide. Getting a private tour and making frequent stops along the way to appreciate the landmarks and other places you may have overlooked is an excellent way to give you a newfound appreciation for your running routes.

Just remember not to streak when you are streaking ;) Stay consistent and clothed!
